Social Side of Reflections FAQ
Here are answers to some "frequently asked questions" that have come up during the course of the MDL Social Side of Reflections (SSR) project. If you have other questions that are not answered here, please send them to efc@clst.org. Thanks!
Question: What should you do if Eric and Marian are crunched in a separate car accidents?
Cry.
Question: No, really!
Well, really, that's a silly scenario, but I know what you mean. So, how about you be more specific and we'll see what we can do.
Question: How do I get email notifications of comments added to the Social Side of Reflections?
You should let the manager of the system know you want your name added and what institution you represent.
If you are the manager of the system, you should look up that institution on Reflections to determine the collection code. For example, Minneapolis Public (now Hennepin County) is "Mpls" in Reflections. Then you go to the /Site/NotifyList page and add a line for that person that follows the format of lines that already exist there.
Question: How can I tell when a change was made to a page?
Add "?action=diff" to the end of the URL. For example, if you want to see the history of changes made to the /Site/NotifyList page, go to /Site/NotifyList?action=diff.
Question: What if I've been added to the Notify List page but I am still not getting notifications?
Double check the /Site/NotifyList page and make sure your email address and collection code have been spelled correctly. If so, then it is likely the messages are being sent but getting intercepted. Your email system may be interpreting these notifications as spam.
Make sure that "mdlssr@mndigital.org" is on your spam "whitelist". On some systems this can only be done by adding "mdlssr@mndigital.org" as a "contact".
You can also filter for "[MDL-SSR]" in the subject of messages.
